We have found that almost every item in the vicinity of the damaged rooms will need to be cleaned or replaced. Fire and smoke damage walls, ceilings, flooring, furniture, and personal items.

  • Why are so many things damaged during a fire?

A fire in your home can cause serious damage. Your home's structure and many of your items may be badly damaged by flames, heat, smoke, and water. You'll find that things not damaged by the fire may still be ruined by smoke or may be damaged by the water used to put out the fire. Anything you want to save or reuse will need to be carefully cleaned.

To fight the fire, firefighters may have broken windows and cut holes in the roof. This slows the fire’s growth and gets rid of dark smoke that makes it hard for firefighters to see. They may have cut holes in your walls as well to make sure that the fire is completely out and not hidden inside the walls. We can help you with all of these different repairs. Give our fire damage restoration and mold remediation contractors a call today at (833) 665-3669.

  • What about replacing valuable documents and records?

One of the first steps to getting your life back on track after a fire is replacing your important documents. If you take preventative measures, this process is made all the easier. Look to invest in a fireproof safe or make photocopies of your important documents.

Each important file requires a different process in order to get a replacement, so research your local laws to find out who to call regarding your unique situation. You want to replace the following documents if they were destroyed or lost in the fire:

  • Can I replace any currency that was damaged in a fire?

After a fire, look to handle any burnt money as little as possible. Try to place each bill or part of a bill in plastic wrap to help preserve it. If the money is only partly burnt, that is if half or more is still okay, you can take it to your regional Federal Reserve Bank to get it replaced. Ask your bank for the one nearest to you.

You can also send the burnt money to the Treasury.

  • What is mold remediation?

Mold remediation is the process of removing and cleaning up mold in any indoor environment, such as a home or a business. If a home or a business has serious mold damage, it's best to hire experienced mold remediation contractors. This is because of the specialized equipment and methods that may be required to remove the mold completely.

  • How does mold grow?

Mold requires an object to grow on, water, oxygen, and favorable temperatures in order to grow and spread. Nutrients for mold are present in dead organic materials such as wood, paper, or fabrics. Mold can also derive nutrients from some synthetic products such as paints and adhesives. Many molds thrive at normal indoor temperatures, while few if any molds can grow below 40 degrees Fahrenheit or above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

According to ComfyLiving, around 70% of homes currently have mold. If you need help getting rid of your indoor mold, turn to the mold remediation contractors you can trust! Give us a call today at (833) 665-3669.

  • What makes mold grow?

Mold enters your home as tiny spores. The spores need moisture to begin growing. Molds can grow on almost any surface, including wood, ceiling tiles, wallpaper, paints, carpet, sheetrock, and insulation. The mold grows best where there is lots of moisture from a leaky roof, high humidity, or a recent flood.

While there is no way to get rid of all molds and mold spores from your home, you can help to control mold growth by keeping your home dry. When you need help controlling mold in your home, trust our experienced team of mold remediation contractors.

  • Do I need to hire a mold remediation/removal expert to remove mold, or can I do it myself?

Theoretically, anyone can remove mold from a home or a business. However, they must understand that when you disturb mold (clean it, cut it out, etc.), you'll distribute those mold spores throughout the entire indoor area, creating new mold issues.

The only way to completely remove the mold is to correctly build a containment using negative pressure and the correct personal protective equipment. You will also need to follow the IICRC S-520 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Mold Remediation, and hire an industrial hygienist to make sure that the mold is removed. Our mold remediation contractors are certified in mold removal and mold remediation by the IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification).
